Teilo’s Tots Day Nursery – A New Chapter with Sister Company Schoolhouse Daycare Ltd
At Faith in Families, Teilo’s Community Cwtch has always been more than just a building — it’s been a safe, welcoming place at the heart of the Portmead community.
Our journey here began back in 2004, when we opened the Penplas Family Centre in four converted flats. It was always busy, always buzzing, and always full of life. By 2014, we had well and truly outgrown our space. That’s when we teamed up with St Teilo’s Parish to dream bigger — transforming the church building into a bespoke centre for the whole community.
In August 2017, those doors opened for the first time. Teilo’s Community Cwtch was born — a space for families to connect, for children to play, and for support to be found right where people need it most. Over the years, we’ve welcomed hundreds of community members, hosted groups and events, supported parents, and worked alongside professionals to make a difference in people’s lives.
And now, Teilo’s Tots — our nursery space within Teilo’s Community Cwtch — is starting an exciting new chapter.
A Community Welcome to Schoolhouse Daycare
This year, we’re proud to welcome Schoolhouse Daycare as our sister company at Teilo’s Tots CIC. As a Community Interest Nursery, Teilo’s Tots remains committed to serving our local families with heart, purpose, and individuality.

Director Rachel Burley, who has been with Schoolhouse since 2000, says:
