Meet Our Trekkers: Karen Devonshire

This year, Karen Devonshire — our very own Head of Trustees at Faith in Families — is proving that age really is just a number. While some might celebrate turning 60 with a cruise, Karen has chosen a very different route: running the Manchester Marathon in April and trekking to Mardi Himal Base Camp in Nepal this October.

Karen’s commitment to Faith in Families runs deep, both through her leadership as Head of Trustees and through her personal fundraising challenges. From battling gales around Llyn y Fan Fawr and Fach to an “accidentally” extended 12.5-mile training hike with fellow trekker Jane Storer, she’s already put in the miles (and the laughs).

For Karen, this milestone year is about showing what’s possible — and raising vital funds to support children and families living in poverty across Swansea.

"I wanted to mark turning 60 by proving to myself — and hopefully others — that it’s never too late to take on something extraordinary and trekking in the Himalayas is my way of showing that age is just a number. More importantly, it’s my way of supporting the families in Swansea who inspire me every day through Faith in Families."
