BBC Wales Visits Inspiring Futures in Swansea | Faith in Families in Action

We were honoured when BBC Wales visited Inspiring Futures to film one of our training sessions in Swansea. That moment felt like validation: people from across Wales now had eyes on the work we do every day. In this blog post, we’ll share what the visit meant for us, how it connects with our mission at Faith in Families, and why such recognition makes a difference for our community.

Why the BBC Visit Matters

Having BBC Wales visit Inspiring Futures signals that what we do matters beyond our walls. Their presence shows that the themes we work with, education, community support, and personal growth, resonate across the region.

Though the BBC’s published story gave broader treatment to education and local change, for us their visit brings a spotlight to individual lives being transformed right here in the Swansea community.

Moreover, media attention like this helps us draw in new supporters, volunteers, and collaborators. When people see us doing serious, meaningful work, they’re more likely to join in. Whether through donations, referrals or simply spreading the word.

What Happened During the Filming

On the day of filming, BBC Wales joined one of our Inspiring Futures training sessions in Bonymaen Community Centre in Swansea. They spoke with participants, observed the group of learners during their Food and Hygiene accredited course.

It’s one thing to talk about change but it’s another to let people see it happening in real time.

Inspiring Futures | The Heart of Faith in Families

Inspiring Futures is the place where we bring together training, mentoring, resources, and community to support people who want to step into a brighter future. We believe that growth happens best when people are seen, heard, nurtured, and given hope.

Each session is intentionally designed to spark insight, encourage confidence, and build practical habits. We work across areas like personal development, employability skills, emotional resilience, and community connection.

So when BBC Wales visits Inspiring Futures, it isn’t just about filming — it’s about acknowledging that change is possible, one person at a time.

About Inspiring Futures

The Inspiring Futures project is one of Faith in Families’ most transformative initiatives — designed to empower individuals to build confidence, gain new skills, and create meaningful change in their lives. Through hands-on training, mentoring, and emotional support, the programme helps people overcome barriers to employment, education, and wellbeing. Inspiring Futures is about more than learning — it’s about belonging. Each session fosters a sense of purpose and community, giving participants the tools and belief they need to shape a brighter future for themselves and their families.

What This Means for Our Community

The BBC’s attention helps us in several tangible ways:

  • Amplifying voices: It gives our participants a platform, reminding them their stories matter.

  • Attracting new supporters: More people will see what we’re doing, and many will want to be part of it.

  • Encouraging existing volunteers: It reassures those who’ve invested their time that their efforts are seen and worthwhile.

  • Building momentum: Recognition can generate new opportunities—partnerships, grants, outreach.

We’re grateful that BBC Wales saw something worth filming. Their decision to come into our space says more than any press release could.
