We’re so proud to be part of the Swansea Careers & Opportunities Pledge – a city-wide commitment to helping young people discover the world of work in exciting, meaningful ways.
This week our Fundraising Manager, Siany, visited Whitestone Primary School in West Cross to lead an assembly all about the theme “Every Job Matters.” Pupils were encouraged to think about the skills and passions they already have, and how these could grow into future careers.
From packing and delivering our ‘Cwtch Boxes’, to working in play, support, finance, or fundraising – every role at Faith in Families is different, but each one is just as important as the next. Together, we make change happen for children and families across Swansea.
The pupils were brilliant at getting involved, acting out different jobs, and even joining in with our #HugsNotHandouts Challenge. Their creativity and enthusiasm showed just how powerful kindness and community can be when we all play our part.

“Children are at the heart of everything we do at Faith in Families, so it feels really special to be part of something that puts them first. Today we showed pupils that every job – big or small – makes a difference, and that their own skills and passions are important too. If we can help children see that they already have talents that matter, then we’re giving them confidence for the future. We want every child to know they have a place in this world, and they can use their skills to help others, just like our team does every day.”

“Our children loved the assembly with Faith in Families. It was engaging, fun, and helped pupils see how the things they enjoy – like being creative, helpful, or energetic – could become valuable skills for the future. It was a wonderful way to show them that all jobs matter and that everyone has something important to give.”

About the Swansea Careers & Opportunities Pledge
The Swansea Careers & Opportunities Pledge celebrates the brilliant work already being done between education and industry across the city. But it’s about more than just work experience. It’s about creating meaningful partnerships that bring learning to life.
By connecting organisations like Faith in Families with schools, colleges, and universities, the pledge helps young people:
- See how their learning connects to the real world,
- Understand the huge variety of jobs available,
- And build the skills they’ll need to thrive in the future.

“The Swansea Careers & Opportunities Pledge is about making learning real for young people, and today was a fantastic example of that in action. By sharing the many different roles within Faith in Families, pupils could see how education links directly to the world of work and to making a positive difference in their community. Partnerships like this give children the insight, confidence, and ambition they need to thrive.”
Rachel Rimmer, CWRE Performance Specialist, School Improvement Team at Swansea Council
Through this pledge, businesses and charities can share their insight and expertise, helping to shape Swansea’s future workforce while also strengthening our local economy.
We’re excited to continue working with schools across the city to inspire the next generation.
Because when children believe that every job matters – they start to see that their own skills matter too.
