This is no ordinary trek.

In January 2027, a team of Faith in Families supporters will take on 100km across Sri Lanka’s dramatic central highlands, raising vital funds for children and families facing poverty, crisis and trauma across Swansea Bay.

Over five days, we will trek through rugged ridgelines, thick rainforest, sweeping plains and working tea plantations. We’ll tackle over 3,000 metres of ascent and descent, including the legendary climb up Jacob’s Ladder.

This is adventure with purpose.

Why Sri Lanka?

Sri Lanka has it all; breathtaking landscapes, extraordinary wildlife, rich cultural heritage and some of the warmest hospitality you’ll ever experience.

We’ll trek sections of the Pekoe Trail, a relatively new 300km route following ancient paths first created by British tea pioneers and long used by local communities. It remains largely untouched by mass tourism, making this a rare and authentic experience.

Along the way we will:

  • Conquer the V-shaped mountain pass known locally as Jacob’s Ladder

  • Explore the UNESCO-listed Horton Plains National Park

  • Trek through working tea estates and colonial-era factories

  • Experience genuine interactions with rural villages

  • Enjoy sacred views of Adam’s Peak

  • Spot incredible wildlife — monkeys, jungle fowl, dusky squirrels and more

Every day brings different terrain, different landscapes, different stories.

The Challenge

  • 100km over five days

  • 5–8 hours trekking per day

  • Over 3,000m ascent and 3,500m descent

  • Varied terrain including rainforest, plains and remote ridgelines

It will be tough. It will stretch you. It will test your resilience.

And it will be unforgettable.

Why We’re Trekking

Every step we take in Sri Lanka will help children and families here at home.

Funds raised will support Faith in Families’ Community Cwtches and Cwtch Mawr Multibank, providing:

  • Essential items for families in crisis

  • Early years support and parent groups

  • Child therapy and family support

This trek is about pushing ourselves, so families don’t have to face life’s toughest moments alone.
