St. David’s Day Kick-Off: Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Generous Match Funding
On March 1st, 2024, Faith in Families was thrilled to be chosen as Swansea Bay Business Club’s President’s Chosen Charity for the year. This was announced at a special St. David’s Day lunch at Parc y Scarlets, where an inspiring act of generosity from Lloyd & Whyte helped raise over £5,000 for our work.
Thanks to the incredible kindness of the event’s attendees, we raised £2,765. But that wasn’t all— The Benefact Group fund matched, contributing an additional £2,765, bringing the total to over £5,000! This was an amazing way to kick off our partnership and will allow us to continue providing essential services to families and children who need them most.
Why Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking Got Involved
Lloyd & Whyte’s decision to support Faith in Families came from a shared belief in helping those in the community who are most vulnerable. They were drawn to our work through our three community cwtch centres, where we provide a wide range of services, from parenting support to one-on-one interventions for children struggling with issues such as trauma, anxiety, and self-esteem.
Lloyd & Whyte recognised that by partnering with us, they could help us extend our reach and provide critical services to even more families in need. Their support goes beyond just financial contributions—it’s about building stronger, healthier communities.
As Anthony Fox from Lloyd & Whyte shared, “Supporting local children and families isn’t just important to us, it’s essential. We believe that every child deserves a safe and nurturing environment to grow up in, and Faith in Families is making that possible for so many. We’re honoured to stand alongside them, helping to create stronger communities where everyone can flourish.”
Shared Goals for the Partnership
With Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking’s support, we are expanding our services to reach more families. From helping children manage strong emotions and cope with trauma to providing practical support for parents through adult education and employability initiatives, we’re focused on creating long-term, sustainable change.
A key initiative that Lloyd & Whyte is backing is Cwtch Mawr, Wales’s first multibank. This initiative provides essential goods—like clothing, bedding, hygiene products, and baby supplies—to families in need. Since its launch in March 2024, Cwtch Mawr has supported more than 106,000 people, providing a safety net for those facing poverty and hardship. The Benefact Movement for Good campaign aims to support charities around the UK, including those in your local area. This is why we believe strongly in our partnership together.
Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking: Going the Extra Mile for Families
Lloyd & Whyte’s commitment to making a difference doesn’t stop at financial support. In May 2024, their Swansea team took on the challenging Three Peaks Challenge, climbing Wales’ three highest mountains—Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Cadair Idris, and Pen y Fan—to raise even more for Faith in Families. This gruelling challenge saw them climb a total of 2,864 meters, raising an additional £10,000!
While the hike was tough, the team’s determination was unwavering. Neena, one of the participants, admitted, “It’s the hardest thing I have ever done!” Meanwhile, Anthony Fox and other team members described parts of the climb as “brutal.” Yet, knowing that their efforts were making a difference kept them going. With the support of Days Vehicle Hire, who provided transportation free of charge, and other clients who volunteered as chefs and offered moral support, the event was a resounding success.
Faith in Families: Transforming Lives
Since 1999, Faith in Families has been a vital source of support for families in Swansea, providing everything from parenting courses and lunch clubs to tailored emotional and practical support for children and adults. Our three community cwtch centres are safe havens where families can access the help they need, whether it’s advice on budgeting, parenting, or overcoming barriers to employment.
Cwtch Mawr, our multibank initiative, is another example of how we’re helping families overcome hardship. By connecting companies with surplus goods to charities and local partners, we can ensure that essential items reach the people who need them most. Lloyd & Whyte along with Benefact Group’s matched funding is helping us sustain this important initiative, which has already supported thousands of people across Swansea.
Looking Forward
We are incredibly grateful to Lloyd & Whyte for their continued support, which allows us to extend our services to even more children and families. Whether through match funding, physical challenges like the Three Peaks Challenge, or spreading awareness about our work, their commitment to our Cwtch Mawr, our multibank initiative, is another example of how we’re helping families overcome hardship. By connecting companies with surplus goods to charities and local partners, we can ensure that essential items reach the people who need them most. Lloyd & Whyte along with Benefact Group’s matched funding is helping us sustain this important initiative, which has already supported thousands of people across Swansea.
Together, we’re making a real difference—one family at a time. Thank you to Lloyd & Whyte Community Broking and all our supporters for helping us create brighter futures for children and families in our community. We can’t wait to see what we achieve together next!
