Charity Golf Day At Machynys Raised Nearly £6.9k For Faith In Families, Thanks To Shufflebottom Ltd And Amazing Community Support.

We are still buzzing from the incredible energy and generosity shown at the Shufflebottom Ltd Charity Golf Day, held on Friday 30th May at the stunning Machynys Golf Club.

Organised by the wonderful Alex Jones-Shufflebottom, this special day was about more than just birdies and bunkers – it was about coming together to support children and families across Swansea and Llanelli through Faith in Families.

And what a day it was! With an impressive £6,870 raised so far, and donations still coming in, we are blown away by the compassion, fun, and community spirit on display.

The Golf Day in Full Swing

The event kicked off with a warm welcome of tea, coffee, and bacon rolls, followed by an introduction from compere and auctioneer Adrian Davies. An incredible word from our own CEO of Faith in Families Cherrie Bija set the tone for a day that was equal parts fun and purpose.

At noon, a shotgun start sent golfers from businesses far and wide out onto the greens, taking on the course with plenty of laughter – and even more Mulligan Balloons! 🎈

For a £10 donation, players could buy a Mulligan Balloon – giving them the chance to replay a shot that didn’t go quite to plan. With bright charity colours (blue, yellow, and red) floating all over the course, it was a magical – and colourful – sight.

“One golfer bought 10 balloons for his brother-in-law, who’s not exactly Rory McIlroy,” joked one participant. “He looked like a balloon vendor straight out of a Disney movie!”

While we’d hoped to use helium, the environment came first – so these balloons stayed grounded but brought plenty of joy (and second chances!).

Community Generosity on Show

In true Shufflebottom fashion, the day didn’t end with the final putt. Guests enjoyed a delicious 2-course meal, a raffle, and a live auction with prizes ranging from luxury getaways and fine dining to unique art and top-notch golf gear.

Special thanks to all who donated prizes, including Arcelor Mittal, Kingspan, Capital Steel, Funhouse Properties, Hereford Galvanizers, and so many more.

And who could forget the incredibly stylish Faith in Families socks, created by the renowned Corgi Socks, branded with our logo and Shufflebottom’s – a huge hit and another fundraising success at just £10 a pair.
