Meet Our Trekkers: Jon Healings

When it comes to community spirit, few people embody it quite like Jon Healings. As the owner of Schmidt Kitchens Swansea, Letterbox of  Mumbles, and Mumbles Post Office, Jon is a familiar face to many — and a firm believer in doing what he can to make life better for others.

Now, he’s taking that passion one step (or several thousand steps!) further by joining the Faith in Families Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek in Nepal this October. 🏔️

But Jon’s support for the charity goes far beyond the climb. In true Mumbles style, he’s rallied his local business community to get involved too — installing Faith in Families collection boxes across shops, cafés, and pubs in the area to help raise vital funds for children and families living in poverty across Swansea.

One of the first to proudly display a donation box is The White Rose Pub, where the team are helping to spread the word (and the kindness!) one pint at a time. 🍻

“Mumbles has an incredible community spirit, and it’s been amazing to see local businesses come together to support Faith in Families. Every donation, no matter how small, helps a child or family who just needs a bit of help to get through tough times.”

As a WHSmith Local Franchisee of the Year 2016, Jon is no stranger to hard work and leadership — qualities that will serve him well as he takes on steep trails, high altitudes, and the challenge of trekking 4,500m to Mardi Himal Base Camp.

Every step Jon takes — and every coin dropped into a collection box — helps Faith in Families continue their work through their Community Cwtches and Cwtch Mawr Multibank, providing essentials, support, and hope to families across Swansea.

If you spot one of the Faith in Families collection boxes around Mumbles, drop in your spare change — it’s a small act that can make a big difference.
