Families across Swansea will soon benefit from the new Royal Foundation Early Childhood Kits, created in partnership by The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood, Amazon and Faith in Families. These kits are designed to offer warmth, comfort and early-learning opportunities to babies and toddlers at a time of year when families often feel the pressure most.
The Royal Foundation Early Childhood Kits will be distributed through our Faith in Families Community Cwtches, giving parents practical support while strengthening children’s early development. This partnership places early childhood at the heart of community care in Swansea, showing how much can be achieved when charities, businesses and national leaders work together.

Why the Royal Foundation Early Childhood Kits Matter
Winter can amplify challenges for families already stretched by rising costs. Because of this, each kit has been carefully curated to balance comfort with development. Items include fleece blankets, books, sensory toys, clothing and age-appropriate activities that encourage bonding, play and early learning.
These resources aren’t simply “nice extras”; they support a child’s emotional wellbeing, curiosity and connection to the adults around them. Small moments of play and shared reading help shape the confidence and resilience that children carry into later years.
The kits will begin reaching families in January, aligning closely with our broader “A Big Cwtch Up This Winter” plan and our ongoing work to keep children supported, safe and thriving.

A Partnership Rooted in Community Support
This collaboration builds on Amazon’s multibank network and supports The Royal Foundation’s national mission to transform how society values the first five years of childhood. For Faith in Families, it brings another layer of support directly into our Community Cwtches, strengthening what we can offer local parents every day.
The Royal Foundation has highlighted how early childhood shapes a child’s learning, wellbeing and long-term opportunities. This initiative brings that insight to life in Swansea, offering families meaningful, practical support during the hardest months of the year.

“For over 26 years, Faith in Families has been built on one simple truth, a child’s earliest years shape everything that follows. What we heard at the Future Workforce Summit reflects what we see every day in Swansea; the most important skills for life, learning and leadership begin long before a child ever reaches the school gates. That’s why this moment matters. It isn’t just a national initiative; it’s something firmly rooted in our communities. Working with The Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood and Amazon means that 1,000 Early Years Kits will reach families who need them most. These kits aren’t just items. They’re tools for connection, comfort and emotional development in those vital first five years. We are proud to support HRH The Princess of Wales’ vision to transform how society values early childhood. Because when businesses, charities and communities come together with a shared purpose, real change happens, and children get the strong start they deserve; a true collaboration of compassion. I want Swansea to be a place where every child is loved, learns, laughs and grows. If you share that belief, then join us. Early childhood is everyone’s business, and together we can build a future where every child thrives, not just survives.”
Cherrie Bija, CEO of Faith in Families
