Swansea Building Society Donates £20,000 to Faith in Families

Faith in Families is celebrating a generous £20,000 donation from Swansea Building Society, made through a special anniversary fund created to mark Chief Executive Alun Williams’ 25 years of leadership.

The donation is the largest gift from the Society’s £25,000 charitable fund, which was set up to celebrate Alun’s milestone while supporting organisations making a real difference across South Wales.

For Faith in Families, this support means so much. It will help us continue reaching children and families across Swansea Bay who are facing poverty, crisis and trauma, at a time when many households are under more pressure than ever.

A donation rooted in community

Swansea Building Society has always had a strong connection to the communities it serves. As a local mutual, its values are built around people helping people, and this donation is a powerful example of that in action.

Faith in Families has been proud to build a long-standing relationship with Swansea Building Society over the years. The Society has previously supported the redevelopment of our Teilo’s Community Cwtch in Portmead, helping us create a welcoming space where children, families and local people can access support, connection and practical help.

This latest donation continues that relationship in a really meaningful way.

At Faith in Families, we see every day how much difference the right support can make. Sometimes that support is a safe place to go. Sometimes it is therapy for a child who has experienced trauma. Sometimes it is a parent finding confidence through a group, course or one-to-one support. Sometimes it is a delivery of essential items through Cwtch Mawr Multibank when a family has nothing left.

So, when local organisations like Swansea Building Society choose to stand with us, the impact reaches far beyond the donation itself.

How Swansea Building Society’s £20,000 donation will help

The £20,000 donation from Swansea Building Society will help Faith in Families continue delivering vital services across our Community Cwtches, family support work, therapy, outreach, training and Cwtch Mawr Multibank.

Across Swansea Bay, our teams work alongside people who are facing incredibly difficult situations. Many are dealing with rising food costs, housing pressures, debt, isolation, trauma, mental health challenges and the ongoing effects of poverty.

This funding will help us keep showing up for those families.

It will support the spaces where parents can ask for help without judgement. It will help children feel seen, heard and valued. It will strengthen the practical support we offer to people in crisis. And it will help us continue building the trusted relationships that make long-term change possible.

For many of the families we support, Faith in Families is not just a service. It is somewhere they know they can turn when life feels overwhelming.

Celebrating Alun Williams’ 25-year milestone

This donation has been made as part of Swansea Building Society’s celebration of Alun Williams’ 25 years as Chief Executive.

Alun’s leadership has helped guide the Society through a period of incredible growth, while keeping community values at the heart of its work. Choosing to mark that milestone by supporting local charities says a great deal about the kind of leadership being celebrated.

We want to say a huge thank you to Alun for choosing to use this moment to give back to the community.

This is more than a financial gift. It is a statement that local people matter. It shows that businesses and charities can work together to create stronger, kinder communities.

Supporting children and families across Swansea Bay

Faith in Families has supported children and families since 1999. Today, our work reaches people through Community Cwtches, Brighter Futures, Inspiring Futures and Cwtch Mawr Multibank.

Our Community Cwtches provide safe, welcoming spaces where people can access support, connection and practical help close to home.

Brighter Futures offers one-to-one support for children and young people who may be struggling with emotions, trauma, anxiety or self-esteem.

Inspiring Futures helps adults build confidence, skills and pathways towards learning, volunteering, training and employment.

Cwtch Mawr Multibank provides essential goods to families and individuals through referral partners, making sure people can access practical items when they need them most.

Together, this work supports people through crisis, but it also helps build hope for the future.

Thank you, Swansea Building Society

We are so thankful to Alun Williams and everyone at Swansea Building Society for this incredible donation.

Their continued support shows what can happen when local organisations choose to invest in the communities around them. Because of this gift, more children, families and individuals across Swansea Bay will feel supported, valued and less alone.

At Faith in Families, we believe in hugs, not handouts. We believe in dignity, belonging and community. And thanks to supporters like Swansea Building Society, we can keep turning those values into real support for the people who need us most.
