🎬 Lights, Magic, and Music: Thanks to Swansea Building Society Arena

What happens when families who are usually juggling life’s toughest choices—like heating or eating—are suddenly transported into worlds of dragons, hobbits, pirates, and galaxies far, far away?

Pure magic. That’s what.

On Sunday, June 1st, thanks to the incredible generosity of Swansea Building Society Arena, 20 members of our families experienced something truly unforgettable: Music of the Movies — a stunning live orchestral performance featuring epic scores from The Lord of the RingsThe HobbitGame of ThronesAvatar, and more.

But this wasn’t just about a day out. This was about opening doors. It was about letting families who might never have stepped foot in a theatre feel the power of live music—not from a screen, but from a full orchestra, right in front of them.

🎟 20 Tickets. 1000 New Dreams thanks to Swansea Building Society Arena

For many of the children (and adults!), this was the first time they’d ever been to a live show—let alone one with the spine-tingling sound of a full orchestra surrounding them. Watching their eyes light up as violins soared, drums thundered, and melodies they’d only heard in films suddenly became real… that moment alone is hard to put into words.

One mum told us afterward:

“We’re always trying to keep our heads above water. But this afternoon… we forgot all of that.”

And a child told us:

“ I want to be the person who makes that sound one day.”

This is what exposure does. This is what access changes.

🗣 A Word from Swansea Building Society Arena

Here at Swansea Building Society Arena, we were absolutely delighted to welcome the families supported by Faith in Families to Music of the Movies. The magic of live entertainment deserves to be experienced by everyone, and it was an absolute privilege for us to be a part of the families’ days. We hope that their experience of the show, combined with the incredible work and support that Faith in Families provides year round, shows that nothing is truly out of reach - our doors are open to them, their dreams are valid, and they belong on every stage life has to offer.

“Opportunities like this are transformational. Through Inspiring Futures, we help children and families explore what their lives could look like beyond their current circumstances. An experience like this opens minds, builds confidence, and shows our young people that the arts—and the wider world—are not out of reach. They get to dream bigger.”

🍿 Snacks, Smiles, and Support from Plexus Fire & Security

And let’s talk snacks—because what’s a show without treats?

A massive shout-out to Ross and the team at Plexus Fire & Security who made sure every family had drinks and snacks to enjoy during the performance. It might seem like a small thing, but when your budget is tight, that extra money for popcorn and a drink isn’t an option. Plexus made sure no one had to go without—and that everyone felt like a VIP.

💭 Music That Moves the Mind

The importance of an experience like this isn’t just entertainment. It’s mental health. It’s healing. It’s being lifted out of the grey grind and plunged into colour.

Music has this uncanny ability to soothe the soul—it sneaks past all the noise and speaks to something deep. For families who carry heavy loads every day, this show was more than a performance. It was therapy with a soundtrack. It was laughter in the dark. It was a reminder that joy isn’t a luxury—it’s a lifeline.

🌍 Opening Worlds: It’s Not Just About the Show

One of the most incredible things about the experience was the ripple effect.

Because yes, the orchestra played brilliantly. Yes, the music was breathtaking. But for our families—especially the children—it also planted seeds. They saw jobs they’d never imagined: musicians, sound engineers, lighting techs, stage managers. They saw what’s possible.

And maybe one of them left thinking, “I could do that.” That’s the kind of shift that can change a future.

🙌 Big Thanks, Big Hearts

We want to give a massive thank you to Swansea Building Society Arena for making this happen. Donating 20 tickets per show is no small gesture—it’s a bridge to belonging. It’s a statement that says, “You’re welcome here. This world is for you too.”

And of course, to Plexus Fire & Security, for ensuring families didn’t just attend—but were looked after. Your care didn’t go unnoticed. It meant the world.

💡 Want to Help? It’s Not Just About Money

We’re often asked, “How can I help?” The truth is: it’s not always about money.

Got access to experiences, events, or opportunities? Know someone who works in entertainment, arts, hospitality, tech, trades, sports, or something totally different? Let’s talk.

Because giving a family the chance to see what’s out there can light a spark that lasts a lifetime. We want our children to know the world is wide—and they belong in all of it.
