Meet Our Trekkers: Caroline Platt

Caroline Platt, Managing Director of Platts Agriculture, is no stranger to big challenges. In 2023, she took on the Wadi Rum Desert Trek in Jordan, walking 100km with her daughter Claudia to raise money for Faith in Families. Now, just two years later, she’s heading even higher — trekking to Mardi Himal Base Camp in Nepal this October.
For Caroline, these adventures are about much more than distance or altitude. They’re about stepping outside her comfort zone to support children living in poverty across Swansea.

"As I take on this challenge, every step I walk is powered by purpose — to help change childhoods that are too often marked by hardship, hunger, and trauma," Caroline says. "Childhood happens once in a lifetime and cannot be re-lived, so I want to help every child feel safe, valued, and able to reach their potential."

To bring even more people into her journey, Caroline has launched a Step Count Challenge alongside her trek. Supporters can guess how many steps she’ll take from her front door in Wrexham all the way to Mardi Himal Base Camp and back — with a special prize for the closest guess.

Caroline calls herself a “Trailblazer for Change in the Community”, and it’s a title she’s living up to with every mile. From the sands of Wadi Rum to the snowy peaks of Nepal, she’s showing what it means to combine determination, leadership, and heart.
