Faith in Families was honoured to attend and support the BMHS Pathway to Work event at Brangwyn Hall earlier this month, an inspiring gathering that connected job seekers, employers, career development experts, and work-visa immigration advisors. This vital initiative provided individuals with essential guidance and opportunities to navigate the UK job market and contribute to the economy.

Organised by BAME Mental Health Support (BMHS), the event on 7th February featured over 35 employers and organisations offering job opportunities, internships, and volunteering roles. Attendees had the chance to engage directly with HR professionals and industry leaders, gaining insights into employment pathways and visa sponsorship processes.

Throughout the day, expert-led sessions covered crucial topics, including UK work-visa routes, strategies for career acceleration, and guidance for international medical graduates. Discussions also explored careers in data analysis, health informatics, and alternative career pathways for clinical professionals, broadening horizons for many attendees.
In a significant boost to BMHS’s capacity, the organisation received four new computers and a printer, funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and supported by Swansea Council. Faith in Families Cwtch Mawr Multibank was delighted to provide additional support through donations, furthering our commitment to creating sustainable solutions for employment and community development.

Hundreds of attendees engaged in networking sessions, one-on-one career consultations, and direct conversations with potential employers. Organisations like South Wales Police expressed strong interest in recruiting talented individuals and continuing their collaboration with BMHS to enhance workforce diversity and inclusion.
Reflecting on the impact of the event, BMHS Director Alfred Oyekoya MBE stated:
“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response from job seekers, employers, and partners. Events like these are crucial in bridging the gap between talent and opportunity, ensuring that individuals from all backgrounds receive the support they need to thrive. I extend my deepest gratitude to our dedicated staff, volunteers, and partner organisations, including Faith in Families, whose support makes a real difference in people’s lives.”
