Swansea Bay Business Club Charity Partnership: Two Years of Transforming Local Lives

For the past two years, the Swansea Bay Business Club charity partnership with Faith in Families has shown what happens when the business community decides to stand with children and families who are facing poverty, trauma and crisis. When Amy Seppman, Marketing Director at JCP Solicitors, became President of SBBC for 2024 and 2025, she chose Faith in Families knowing that this region’s business leaders could help create real change. And they did, again and again.

From the first event to the very last fundraiser, this partnership has been rooted in something simple but powerful the belief that Swansea Bay thrives when its people thrive. Businesses came together with energy, ideas and determination, and because of that, families across the city felt supported at moments when life was at its toughest.

Two Years of Action, Energy and Impact

Over the course of the partnership, members didn’t just attend events; they walked, climbed, ran, cycled, donated, sponsored and showed up in every way possible. This support helped children access emotional wellbeing programmes, parents receive practical help, and families gain dignity through essentials provided by the Faith in Families Cwtch Mawr Multibank. Generous match funding from Howden, Lloyds Bank and Lloyd & Whyte also boosted the impact of key fundraising moments, turning every pound raised into even more support for local families.

Here are just some of the incredible highlights:

  • The Welsh 3 Peaks Challenge… twice. Two teams pushed themselves to the limit to raise funds and awareness.
The Swansea Half Marathon. 40 individuals ran for families who often feel like they’re running uphill every day.
Amy and Hollie’s Fishguard to London cycle. A huge effort that symbolised the distance families travel to keep going.
The Pier to Pier Walk. A community moment filled with connection, conversation and purpose.
Club Events: St David’s Day, Beaujolais Day, the Ffos Las Summer Event and the Christmas celebration, each packed with generosity.
Raffles, auctions and games: Find the Diamond, art auctions, prize draws and countless creative ways to get people involved.

Together, these moments turned into essential support for local families – not one-off gestures, but genuine lifelines during a cost-of-living crisis that continues to hit children the hardest.

All of these efforts, all of this energy and care, came together in a remarkable outcome. The Swansea Bay Business Club charity partnership raised over £54,600 during the two years. This amazing amount gives children and families hope when they need it most.

Why This Partnership Matters Now More Than Ever

Swansea Bay is a place with hwyl, but it’s also a place where poverty is deepening. Families are choosing between food and essentials, between heating and eating, between stability and survival. Children carry the impact in their emotions, their behaviour and their sense of who they are.

Faith in Families meets these challenges every day, offering safety, support and community through our Community Cwtches and Wales’ first Multibank, Cwtch Mawr. But we cannot do it alone. That’s why the Swansea Bay Business Club charity partnership has been so vital.

The business world didn’t just raise money; it raised hope. And that matters. It matters to every child who walked into a Cwtch and felt seen. It matters to every parent who found someone to listen. It matters to every family who felt dignity where there had been worry.

"This partnership has shown the best of Swansea Bay. When businesses come together with purpose, they don’t just fund services, they change lives. Over the past two years, the support from SBBC has helped children who felt invisible find confidence, families in crisis find stability, and parents under pressure feel hope again. The need in our communities is growing, so partnerships like this are not a nice extra; they are vital. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved, and we hope more businesses will choose Faith in Families as their charity of choice going forward. Swansea’s children need all of us."

"Choosing Faith in Families was one of the easiest decisions I ever made. The stories I heard and the impact I saw reinforced to meme why community matters. The business sector has the power to make a real difference, and our members rose to every challenge with generosity and spirit. This partnership has shown that when we support local families, we strengthen the whole region. I know that this the momentum will continue long after my presidency ends."

Looking Ahead: How Businesses Can Stay Involved

Even though Amy’s presidency comes to an end, the challenges facing families do not. Poverty in Swansea Bay remains stark. Children still need safe spaces, emotional support and essentials. Parents still need guidance, connection and dignity. So, the work must continue.

Businesses across the region can keep this impact alive. Supporting Faith in Families as your charity of choice means you stand with children who deserve the chance to grow, learn and thrive. It means you invest not just in charity work, but in Swansea’s future workforce, future leaders and future community.

There are so many ways to stay involved: employee fundraising, corporate volunteering, event sponsorship or long-term CSR partnerships. Every contribution matters, and every business can play a role.
