Celebrating a Year of Support from Swansea City Supporters Trust

Faith in Families Swansea is proud to look back on a year of meaningful support from the Swansea City Supporters Trust, whose commitment throughout 2025 helped children and families across Swansea Bay access support, experiences, and opportunities they may otherwise have missed.

This Swansea City Supporters Trust support has gone far beyond fundraising alone. Instead, it has combined financial backing, practical action, and a real understanding of what local families need, showing just how powerful community-led support can be.

Throughout the year, this partnership has helped ease pressure on families, strengthen services, and remind children that they are part of a city that cares.

Swansea City Supporters Trust Support Rooted in Community

The Swansea City Supporters Trust, also known as the Swans Trust, was formed when fans stepped in to protect the future of Swansea City Football Club. Since then, the Trust has continued to invest back into local people, grassroots sport, and community causes.

During 2025, that commitment was felt strongly by families supported by Faith in Families.

The year began with a £2,500 donation, awarded by the Trust Board as part of their Charity of the Year support. Over the months that followed, the Trust continued to raise funds and awareness through events, member donations, and matchday activity.

Supporters also donated generously through collections at the Swans Trust kiosk on matchdays, with funds steadily adding to the overall total raised for local families.

In addition, the Trust donated £500 as a match funder for The Big Give Compassionate Christmas campaign, helping unlock vital matched funding and ensuring support reached families at one of the most difficult times of year. Every penny raised through the campaign went directly to families facing financial crisis.

CEO of Faith in Families, Cherrie Bija, said:

“The support from the Swansea City Supporters Trust across the whole year has been incredibly impactful. This wasn’t a one-off gesture, it was consistent backing that helped families feel supported, seen, and valued.”

How This Support Helped Children Across Swansea Bay

Faith in Families works alongside families long before crisis becomes overwhelming. Through our three Community Cwtches and Cwtch Mawr, Wales’ first multibank, children and parents can access practical items and emotional support in one place.

During 2025, this support included clothing, hygiene items, school uniforms, baby essentials, and food. Alongside this, families accessed parent and toddler groups, child therapy, outreach services, and home-based support, all delivered in communities experiencing high levels of deprivation.

Because of sustained Swansea City Supporters Trust support, Faith in Families has been able to respond quickly, reduce stress for families, and help children feel safe and supported during uncertain times.

Community Fundraising in Action: The Swans Trust Quiz Night

One of the standout moments of the year came at the Swans Trust Quiz Night, held at Penderyn Distillery in December. The event brought together more than 30 teams and over 100 guests for an evening of friendly competition and community spirit.

On the night, an incredible £1,187.30 was raised for Faith in Families.

The quiz was co-hosted by Trust Ambassador and local author David Brayley, alongside Faith in Families Fundraising Manager and Swansea Bay Radio presenter Siany Martin. Rounds covered Swansea City, music, and general knowledge, keeping the atmosphere lively throughout.

The evening also included appearances from Swansea City legend Lee Trundle, who entered a team on behalf of the Former Players Association, and local musician Mal Pope, who dropped in during the night.

We are also grateful to Penderyn Distillery for donating their venue and helping make the event such a success.

Siany Martin said:

“The quiz night was a brilliant example of community in action. People came along to enjoy the evening, but they also came knowing they were helping local families. That combination really sums up this partnership.”

More Than Fundraising: Creating Moments for Families

Alongside fundraising, the Swans Trust also supported families by providing countless free match tickets throughout the year. These tickets gave children and parents the chance to attend Swansea City games, experiences that many families simply wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise.

For many children, these moments created lasting memories and a sense of belonging, reinforcing that support can be practical, emotional, and joyful all at once.

A Year That Showed What Local Action Can Do

Reflecting on the year, Swansea City Supporters Trust Chairman Dave Dalton said:

“Supporting Faith in Families throughout the year has shown what local action can achieve. Through fundraising, member donations, and practical support, we’ve been proud to play a part in helping families across Swansea Bay.”

Across 2025, the Trust balanced its long-standing support for grassroots football with meaningful investment in local families. Altogether, the partnership raised £TBC, alongside countless experiences and moments that made a real difference.

Standing Together for Local Families

As 2025 comes to a close, we’re proud to celebrate everything this partnership has achieved. Because when local organisations step up, children and families feel the impact.
